Labor Day Weekend is here again, which means the end of the summer season in Cape San Blas and Port St. Joe. For the vacationers looking to squeeze every last drop of sunshine out of summer 2026, here’s a list of all the things to do in the Cape: from Labor Day weekend onwards.
September 5th & 6th – 2026 Florida Scallop, Music & Arts Festival, Port St. Joe
This is an event we look forward to every year on the Cape. Send summer out with a bang at this year’s festival, featuring two days of live music, a plethora of mouth-watering seafood and fair food, plus local arts and crafts vendors.
Bring your lawn chairs (which we provide at our rental property, Sugar Shores)! This event is held at Gulf County Veterans Memorial Park at Beacon Hill. A one day pass is $10, two day is $20 for adults. Kids under 12 can attend for free!

September 5th – License-free Saltwater Fishing Day
Fancy yourself a fisherman? Well today, you can give it a go without needing a saltwater fishing license. This includes crabbing and lobstering, and would include scalloping ordinarily. This year the scallop season has ended early due to a low abundance of scallops in the bay.

Until September 11th – Through the Lens Photography Exhibit, Port St. Joe
The Joe Center for the Arts is one of our favorite spots to pop into on a day at Port St. Joe. This month, step in to view the winning photographs for the ‘Through the Lens: Photography Without Walls’ exhibit. This is a juried photography exhibition showcasing the finest Port St. Joe has to offer, featuring both local scenes and subjects further afield.

September 5th & 19th – Salt Air Farmers Market, Port St. Joe
A favorite of our owner, Kurt, this market is a must. Featuring local vendors from up and down the Cape, it’s a great way to stock your kitchen with fresh produce and delectable baked goods ahead of your week on the Cape. The market is open from 9AM to 1PM and is located on the corner of US Highway 71 and Reid Avenue.

September 17th – St. Joseph Bay State Buffer Preserve Guided Tram Tour, Port St. Joe
This is a free event that occurs every third Thursday of the month on the St. Joe Preserve Center. Get little nature enthusiasts involved in conservation by taking this guided tram tour along Florida’s Forgotten Coast. A guide provides commentary on the local flora and fauna as you trundle along, enjoying the scenery.
This is an excellent way for guests who are mobility-limited to experience the wilder side of Florida’s Forgotten Coast. The tour begins at 9 AM, email Caitlin Mccauley at Caitlin.Mccauley@FloridaDEP.gov, or phone her at 850-229-1787 to book a seat on the tram.
September 18th – Members Art Market, Port St. Joe
Head to The Joe Center for the Arts to view the best works The Joe’s members have to offer. This exhibition runs until October 31st, and features artistic works of all mediums. This showcase highlights a diverse range of media and styles, and provides an opportunity for Cape guests to purchase a piece of the Cape to bring back with them.

September 19th – International Coastal Cleanup, Port St. Joe
Park fees for the T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula Park are waived for cleanup participants today. Cleaning tools will be provided to volunteers who take part in the International Coastal Cleanup Day on Port St. Joe.
A great way to teach little ones about conservation and nature, this cleanup day provides an opportunity to give back to the Cape we love so much. Bring shoes that can get wet or mucky to Eagle Harbor Marina at 9AM. Find more information about this event here.
September 19th – Slow Birding Series 1, Port St. Joe
If you’ve ever wanted to get into birding as a hobby, this session is for you. Over the next four weeks, rangers at the Constitution Convention Museum State Park will walk visitors through the basics of birding, a skill that comes in handy for guests looking to spot Florida sea fowl.

September 26 – Slow Birding Series 2, Port St. Joe
Session two of the Slow Birding Series at the Constitution Convention Museum State Park details everything you need to know about ‘Birding’ for beginners. Attendees will get the opportunity to attend an informal ‘bird sit’ guided by a ranger.
This is an excellent crash course in birding for guests interested in Florida’s varied bird population, and costs $2 per attendee. Find out more here.
September 26th & 27th – Wewahitchka Cemetery Tour, Wewahitchka
History buffs will love this guided tour of the Jehu Cemetery, covering the lives and times of Wewahitchka’s oldest settlers. Attendees will learn about famous Wewahitchka residents, cemetery preservation, and get the opportunity to view one of Wewahitchka’s oldest burial sites.
